Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

This was quite different really. A bit of action, comedy, and some weirdness.

Robert Downey was just doing his usual thing, he is pretty much the same in every film, which is not a bad thing if you like him, which I do on the whole. I thought though that Val Kilmer was aces in this, good to see him doing good again.

There were some quite funny bits in it. The amputated finger thing was funny but made me cringe a bit.

Sherlock Holmes

James had not seen this, so we got it out along with the sequel.

It was pretty much just as good as the first time I saw it, and James enjoyed it too. We will watch the sequel tomorrow.

I just checked my first post on this film, I gave it 7 out of 10 that time, I guess watching it with James boosted it a bit.

Here is Robert talking to Jay Leno…

Due Date

I watched this on Hulu last night, the first film I have watched on it.

Pretty standard stuff, all the right jokes in the right places, with Robert Downey Jr and that Zack Galinfalakilisponpopados guy. Both are just putting to practice all of the comedy tricks they learned in acting school, and while mildly entertaining at times it is mostly just predictable joke one after the other with a few obligatory heart-warming moments.

I like both actors but they can do better than this.

Less Than Zero

What made this film was Robert Downey Jr, he was utterly fantastic. His character was also pretty much like his own soon to be life, drugged out and getting into trouble. The rest of the actors were fine but Robert showed them all up really, but Matthew McCarthy, Jami Gertz, and James Spader were all good.

This was made in 1987, things were still very 80’s then, so the fashion was very 80’s. But the soundtrack was mostly pretty good with bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and Public Enemy to name a few. There was also a Husker Du – Land Speed Record poster in a bedroom which I thought was cool.

The story moved along fine and didn’t get boring, nothing special but it was alright.

Ironman 2

I decided I wanted to see an action flick so got this out on Blu-Ray.

I didn’t disappoint really, lots of action, snazzy special effects and Robery Downey Jr. doing his thing. And it was good to see Mickey Rourke as the bad dude, I thought he was pretty good at it.

Pretty over the top at times but that is what made it fun to watch. Maybe not as good as the first but it was entertaining.
