Writing a post to the sound of Jackie Mittoo

Time again to catch up on music purchases, in no particular order, and whilst listening to the fine sounds of Jackie Mittoo.

They Might Be Giants, Factory Showroom
I just bought this today. But, my CD ripping program refused to rip the first track which is a bummer. It is the first time I have bought a used CD which would not rip completely, and there is no visible damage. Quite off! I have not listened to the remaining 12 tracks yet, but I am expecting good stuff.

Rancid, Rancid
Rancid are a ska punk band that have been around since 1991. When looking at them you would think they are a G.B.H. tribute band, they have the spikes, boots, and tats at the very least. But, in fact they have a very ska punk sound, and are not too shabby.

Lou Reed, New York
Well, it’s Lou Reed, so there you go.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Question the Answers
This is a band I have been wanting to check out for ages, and when I found this used and at a price much less than a regular coffee at Starbucks, I snapped it up. And I quite like it, more than Rancid truth told. The lead singer, Dicky Barrett, is also the announcer on a show called Jimmy Kimmel Live! which is some American music show or something.

Sum 41, All Killer, No Filler
Apart from their latest album, I have their entire album discography. Fun band.

Graham Coxon, Crow Sit On Blood Tree
I bought this because I like Blur a lot. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I have heard another album. Graham is only 13 days older than me!

Franz Ferdinand, You Could Have It So Much Better
Over the years in my CD music browsing I have seen albums from this band, but have never considered buying one. Well, yesterday I decided to jolly well buy one. I just had a quick listen to a song just now and I liked what I heard. I may have to buy another album I saw by them yesterday as well.

Dinosaur Jr., Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not
I bought this on Bandcamp, which if I want to buy new music, is now my outlet of choice (new CD albums here are a tad expensive). And it is fantastic as you would imagine, they just get better and better. And apart from their first album I now have their entire album discography, which makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

Album count 2017: 72
