The 150th film for this year is this, a 1973 blaxploitation horror film film with Pam Grier.
Unfortunately though, it was not a very well made film, nor well written, although some of the acting was fine. Pam Grier was good of course, and William H. Marshall was also good, but he was given the most ridiculous makeup when it was vampire time…
Perhaps the best part of the whole film was the opening credits. Here is a good image I found on the interwebs that shows the sequence of images used…
Also well done was the vampire to bat transformation which for 1973 must have been pretty high-tech cutting edge kind of stuff.
Pam Grier’s character was a voodoo expert, and the story basically involved the vampire going around biting people and starting his own little vampire cult, then near the end deciding he wants to be normal again by trying to get Pam to do a voodoo exorcism on him which I thought was a nifty idea. Voodoo and Vampires!
I should have chosen something decent for my 150th, I’ll make sure to do so for my 200th, if I can make it.
