Continuing with my music documentary watching, I checked out this good thrash metal one.
It starts out looking at Mellatica who are supposed to be the pioneers of thrash metal along with Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth (I am not a fan of any of those bands, especially Mellatica). It then goes on to look at various aspects of thrash metal, new bands, hair metal (the enemy of thrash metal), and the decline of thrash.
It was well told, mostly using interviews with bands from the day and other people involved in the scene. There was lots of archival footage of bands head-banging, twirling their long hair around in circles, making angry faces, holding beers, and saying what a jolly good time they are having.
Mostly this is for thrash metal nerds, but if you want to learn what thrash metal is all about, and don’t mind seeing long-haired eighties hippies play loud and fast music, then this is the documentary for you.
