Bridge of Spies

This Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg spy thriller is pretty perfunctory stuff, based on the real life spy swap in the 60s, it’s oddly unexciting and a little bit dull. But I found it entertaining enough, the Coen Brothers tweaked the script, so there are some good bits in it, and the production values are excellent of course, old Tom is quite watchable. The real people involved have poo-pooed a few things about this of course, but hey, you gotta make it exciting. The timeline is a bit deceptive, watching the film you think everything happens over the space of a few weeks, but it’s actually years.

Date watched: 18th March.
