The Ghost Writer

This is a thriller with Euan McGregor, Olivia Williams, Pierce Brosnan, Kate Cattrall, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Hutton, Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), and a very old Eli Wallace. It was directed by Roman Polanski, and because this film was set in England and the U.S., it was filmed mostly in Germany so he did not get arrested.

Pretty good stuff with a good balance of suspense, sleuthing, and a little action. Euan was great, the Star Wars trilogy does not seem to have done any long-lasting damage on his acting abilities. His character did not have an actual name in this, he was just “the ghost”, or “man” as Pierce Brosnan’s character called him. Pierce is great, I like Pierce an awful lot now.

The whole cast was great actually, and it is good to see Kate Cattrall doing something outside of Sex and the City. She is a Brit, didn’t know that (actually British by birth, but she is also Canadian it seems).

Nicholas Cage and Swilda Tinton were originally going to star in it, but due to a postponement in production they scarpered.

Worth a watch, just don’t expect gun fights and snappy one-liners.
