Life Itself

This is a great doc about the greatest film critic ever (according to everyone in this film) Roger Ebert. Along with Gene Siskel they were Siskel and Ebert, TV’s most popular film critic duo. And pretty funny they were too, there are some great outtakes of them bickering away in this.

Roger was an interesting guy, he wrote loads of books, even wrote Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, edited a newspaper, drank loads, went to AA and got off the booze, and watched around 10,000 films.

There are also some confronting footage of him in hospital getting he throat irrigated, he had his lower jaw removed from cancer, so couldn’t eat, drink or talk.
