The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

I have been wary of Nicholas Cage films in the past, so before watching this I checked out reviews and saw that it might be worthwhile watching.

And this time Nicholas did not disappoint, he was back to form with a character that suits his maniacal acting. He wasn’t over the top, but he was fun to watch. The rest of the cast was good too, and it was good to see Brad Dourff and Val Kilmer.

And Werner Herzog did good with his direction. He had a couple of really wiggy shots involving reptiles that were absolutely brillo.

This cannot be compared to the original film, and Werner was against giving the film the same name, he wanted it to be it’s own film. He did not even see the original. Abel Ferrara is rather pissed this film was made, and said “As far as remakes go, … I wish these people die in Hell. I hope they’re all in the same streetcar, and it blows up.”. Dang!

It didn’t end the way I thought it would, but it ended well.

Date watched: January 8th
Score: 8.5/10
Film count 2016: 4

Here is a scene with both Nicholas Cage and his character getting on a bit of a high…
