This is a film I have been sitting on for years, I tend to put dramas off and watch other stuff. But finally last night I watched it, and as it turned out was my 99th film this year.

And I have to say it was well worth it, all round goodness. Geoffrey Rush was great as David Helfgott, as were the two actors that played him in his early years.

From what I have read on Wikipedia about it though it seems the film did not portray his father as they should have, and that David’s actual piano playing may not be as brillo as made out to be. Wikipedia though is not exactly a great place to get all the facts, and at the end of the day films are always going to twist the story a bit.

Good stuff.

Date watched: July 25th
Score: 8/10
Film count 2015: 99
