Finally made it through my 2013 CD list, here are the last few:
Harry Belafonte: Greatest Hits – The Banana Boat Song! Yes! Jump in the Line! (plus 19 other tunes).
Johnny Cash: American VI – Ain’t No Grave – More depressing but great stuff from old Johnny.
Miles Davis: E.S.P – From 1965, some nice trumpeting from Miles.
Nat King Cole: 20 Golden Greats – All the hits. His real name is Nathaniel Adams Coles.
Paul Simon: The Paul Simon Anthology – 2 CD of Simon and Garfunkel and just Simon. Cracker. I really like the cheesy El Condor Pasa tune.
Ry Cooder & Manuel Galban: Mambo Sinuendo – This is a nice instrumental record from Ry and the late Manuel Galban, a Cuban musician who was quite well known in Cuba. He was in his late 70s when this was recorded.
Sam Cooke: Portrait Of A Legend 1951-1964 – 31 tunes from Sam. Nice.
Simon & Garfunkel: Parsley Sage, Rosemary and Thyme – More from little Simon and Microphone head Art.
SJD: Dayglo Spectres – Very listenable album from SJD, it’s the only one I have so will have to seek out more.
Phoenix Foundation: Happy Ending – Last purchase for the year, might as well be those NZers The Phoenix Foundation.
Album count 2013: 181
So a final count of 181 is pretty good, I’m not sure 2014 will surpass that but at the rate I’m going in 2015 I think there will be even more.
