This is a quite good film about the Salem Witch Trials, something I have been wanting to read up on but have been too lazy to Wiki it.
I was only going to watch half of this last night, then finish it tonight because I started watching it late and it is two hours long, but I couldn’t stop. It isn’t gripping or overly exciting, but I thought it was a good story and even if this was only partly true it was quite an interesting history lesson. People in those days went berzerb if they thought the devil was around.
The language used in this was ye olde style British/colonial American English, so at times was hard to follow, but no biggie.
Daniel Day Lewis was in this as well as Winona Ryder, both great, as was the magistrate guy, a British chap by the name of Paul Schofield and quite the thespian apparently.
Reviews on this are mixed, most of them say it doesn’t compare to the original Arthur Miller play which is kind of unfair as a film cannot really be compared to a play, they are different beasts.
Anyhoo, I thought it was jolly good.
